Chug Chug Chug is all you hear at parties and the minors present are not referring to soft drinks nor water Too many teens fall into peer pressure and risk not only their lives but other innocent people too Teens dont realize what they put on jeopardy when drinking and driving including jail time an ignition interlock loosing a car or life killing someone missing work or school for court dates alcohol classes community service high insurance car wreck towing fees license suspension probation the weight of a guilty conscience many fines that can cost you up to 9000 just for being a first-time offender a permanent record with a DWI on it exc Yes when convicted with DWI it will be there until you are lifeless literally Do you know what that means The many opportunities you will be risking just for a fun night out Think about your future careers will they be hiring you with a DWI Chances are very limited Also your car insurance wont be the lowest but the highest At the age of 17 it is possible for a teen to be charged as an adult when pulled over for drinking and driving especially if you are high on Blood Alcohol Concentration BAC Many underage teens arent aware that states have a zero-tolerance law towards alcohol consumption and worse drinking and driving In the book Teens and Drunk Driving author Nathan Aaseng who in 1999 was recognized by the Wisconsin Library Association as a Notable Wisconsin Author states how the main reason for drinking and violating the law is peer pressure Teens fall into peer pressure for the fact that they want to be accepted as grown-up and mature Growing up is a lengthy gradual struggle for independence from parents p38 Young people become frustrated at being treated like children with very limited rights and privileges on their own and in need of constant adult supervision
