This is an exciting and heartfelt adventure story that takes you through four animals wild everyday lives Everyday in the story something new and exciting happens which makes this book a joy to read Badger Ratty and Mole must deal with the rowdy and rambunctious Toad who is always getting into trouble with his fascinations of the latest animal fads It is incredibly entertaining and interesting to read this book because it is about animals who act and carry-on just like real people This technique used by Kenneth Graham to bring depth and realism to the story is known as personification The author does a fantastic job describing and defining each characters very strong and very different personality in this way All the characters change drastically throughout the book as they grow mature and learn from each other as they spend their days together This is why they are all round characters Everyday the mood of the world in which the animals live in is one of great joy and happiness The personification round characters and mood all play a part in making this book as wonderful as it is It is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a song in your heart Each character in the story has a very unique strong and different personality with human traits characteristics and tendencies You can relate the animals to different people that you know because of their human-like qualities This is one of the reasons the book is so funny and enjoyable The animals talk drive wear clothes and live their lives allot like we do The author really makes the animals come to life in this way and makes the book much more entertaining to read An example of just how life-like they are is when Ratty is upset and had just finished yelling at the scoundrels who ruined the motor car His home-sickness had quite slipped away from
