"You mix singular and plural when you write, “women needed to be … shielded from actions that her husband might take.” Avoid informal language such as “a lot.” Punctuation should be placed inside quotation marks in American and Canadian English. Use a comma and not a semicolon in the fourth paragraph: “… on the one hand, ….” You state that husbands may wish to bribe their wives; it seems that in fact the husband is not bribing, but soliciting a bribe. Your last sentence includes a comma splice. This is the use of a comma to link what should be two sentences. Correct this with a period (or semicolon) after “unknown.” Your conclusion will gain power if you place the main points in one brief paragraph. Your points become buried in a longer paragraph."
