The Potential Conversation In this day and age people lead very different lifestyles Some people may be intensely into materialistic things thus they dedicate their lives to obtaining the means for paying for those things There may be others who live adventurous lives and devote all their time to taking risks Furthermore there are women and men who make family their number one priority and devote their lives to being a stay-at-home mom or dad Im sure that all these individuals who choose to pursue such lives are content with their lives If they were told that their lives were not worth living Im sure they would have an objection Plato a famous philosopher would object to their style of living Plato believed in the words of his teacher Socrates who stated life withoutexamination is not worth living Paths 138 What if Plato had the chance to meet with these people individually Im sure there would be a controversial conversation between them For instance what if Plato met with the person who wanted materialistic things Their conversation might start off with Plato saying How can you say your life is worth living when you do not even seek for the true meaning of life In response the materialistic person might say The true meaning of life can be interpreted differently for different individuals As for myself I dont think that the true meaning of life is to splurge on all those things that you want However I am at a point in my life where I can afford to buy expensive cars expensive clothes and keep up with the latest technology On the other hand I would not recommend my style of living to everyone Should everyone dedicate their lives exclusively to the way I live No Should anyone who does not live exclusively the way I live be judged because of it No Should I tell all those who do not strive
