Discrimination comes in many shapes and forms Age sex ethnicity color sexual orientation and social status are a few of the many ways people can be discriminated against The two major discrimination issues that people are most familiar with are racism and hate crimes Racism is a problem that plagues everyone Racism does not discriminate Racism is part of everyones life in one way or another whether they recognize it or not Of the people that do recognize there is a problem they do not realize how severe it is The problem of racism needs to first be addressed and acknowledged before it can be solved or even improved If people do not acknowledge the problem and attack it directly it is bound to only get worse Racism has been a hot button issue for many years and it will inevitably take many years after positive intervention to see even small results When racism seems to be getting under control someone or something reverses the positive advances in the no end in sight fight against racism Racism is a dilemma that plagues children in the United States as well While children are at their most impressionable parents or other sources close to them have the opportunity to brainwash them into being racist Children do not have the education and cultural knowledge and background to decide for themself whether what they are being taught is right or wrong Therefore the children grow up with the racist views of their mentors and continue the pattern of discriminating against people who are different from them This pattern is exactly the reason racism is more prominent every passing day If a child has been taught from a young age that being a racist is an accepted practice and discrimination will be tolerated in this society the pattern will keep repeating itself with increasing hate in each new generation Until parents teach their children at a young age to
