Apart from the good things of social media there are also tragic things such as cyber bullying a 2009 study found that 173 of middle school students have been victims of cyber bullying theres also sexing overuse over sharing exposure within young teens and even adult web sites Social media is becoming a threat to peoples lives Studies have shown that some teens suffer from face book depression after spending a lot of time on face book and other social media sites Children became moody and anxious Did you know that predators target young people who use social media For EX In Feb 2009 MySpace identified 90000 registered sex offenders with profiles on the site while Face book declined to reveal how many were present on its site Exposed to the internet sometimes leads to drug use alcohol abuse and not accomplishing high school Addition too that social media is affecting teens and their performance in school teachers are noticing that grammar and spelling among heavy social media users are poor and on top of that kids are finding it cool too misspell words In my opinion Social networking sites were created to make money not to improve peoples lives or make them feel safe What I found very interesting is that Russians spend more time on social networking sites than people in any other country an average of 66 hours per month compared to the worldwide average of 37 hours per month Social media can ruin relationships with parents and couples Parents spend less time with their children and couples spend less time together even when they live in the same house because they are using the Internet instead of interacting with each other Now theres accepted pros about social media Social networking sites allow people to create new relationships and reconnect with friends and family
