When talking about satisfaction and productivity the most popular question discussed is Are satisfied workers more productive than dissatisfied workers Evidence has concluded productivity is more likely to lead to satisfaction rather than being satisfied leading to productivity An employee will get more satisfaction being productive Creating a work environment that helps employees feel more productive results in employee satisfaction Cognitive dissonance is the most widely know of the consistency theories that believe that people prefer to avoid stressful or tense situations by maintaining harmony Individuals tend to avoid paying attention to or retaining information which conflicts with their belief system The organizational implications are that people will tend to modify their attitude in order to make it consistent with the awareness and judgment of what they must say and do According to early research the relationship between attitudes and behavior was thought of them to be somewhat related thinking that the attitudes people hold determine what they do I feel that the relationship between attitude and behavior depends on how much of the attitude is form from things that happened in the past andor what is socially acceptable Attitudes are a persons beliefs or mental positions toward something or someone that we assume or learn The word attitude is sometimes used loosely as a buzz word for the whole collection of a persons beliefs opinions prejudices and sentiments A persons attitude towards these beliefs opinions prejudices and sentiments ultimately affects their behavior toward them Two people can look at the same thing and interpret it differently because of psychological perception and conditioning Perception refers to the interpretation of what we take in through our senses The way we perceive our environment is what makes us different from other animals and different from each other Our emotions and moods can affect the way we interpret things The attribution theory assumes that people try to determine why people do what they do
