As Americans we are entitled to our rights and our freedoms The Bill of Rights along with many of the other amendments is one of the most important laws that America has The sad part is that many Americans do not fully know or understand their rights The second amendment is one of the most important amendments the United States has The second amendment states A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed The analogy of this right is simple the amen entitles us to a well-organized militia provided by the government at no direct cost to us It also gives us permission to own a gun The first part of the law that states that we have a right to a well-organized militia and at no direct cost to us Although this law has been held and honored by the government we still pay for the militia just not directly Since out officers need payment and our government needs money to do this they have to use part of our taxes to pay them Although this law is technically being obeyed we still pay for our officers and troops At the end of the law it states shall not be infringed This means that the law cant be violated In the context of the Constitution phrases like shall not be infringed shall make no law and shall not be violated sound pretty unbendable but the Supreme Court has ruled that some laws can in fact encroach on these phrases For example though there is freedom of speech you cannot slander someone though you can own a pistol you cannot own a nuclear weapon usconstitutionnet This law has limitations One example of the limits of this law would be the case of Dwayne Barley in Virginia on November 28 2000 wwwcourtsstatevausopinionsopncavwp0117003doc The court ruled that
