This past course the Seniority concept was a main item in the Spain UX debates like ironic expression like honored expression in any kind of versions that you can imagine and of course I have my opinion about and of course is a very personal and probably none measured or politically correct opinion like usualThe point is people that most defended obsessed and proud about this Seniority value are the people that lived all their professional life without close senior references WTFLike perfectly Javier Caada had defined in his blog Seniority is a great value usually in the most lateral and undefined areas of our profession Client relationship team management projects wide view strategic definition issues prevent etc And for that Seniority is a great value if there is about provide a kind of common sense based on experience prevent issues not documented exceptions a deep sense about the users behaviors the ability to read the client needs agains their speech the ability to define scopes provide mentoring and guidance etc But is the biggest mistake if we think on it like a per se value because not all people have the same knowledge acquisition speed this is not a bibliography list competition projects are not badges per se at the end in my point of view knowledge faults and successes are the only valid badgesIn other hand Seniority in our expertise area its not always a positive value in the sense that for example is so sad see people applying old patterns to new devices arguing desktop devices based theories discussing about touch surfaces referring year 2000 users behaviors for a project that probably will be launched around 2016If you listen arguments around sounds like that the seniority is something only owner by people around 40s people that I prefer define like the viejunity gang Because probably a handful of them have the Seniority values without doubt but a punch of them only stay
