There are many things that are similar between George Orwells 1984 and Aldous Huxleys A Brave New World but the books are less similar than alike 1984 is the story of Winston who finds illicit love surrounded by the pretense of his society A Brave New World is a novel about the struggle of Bernard Marx who rejects the beliefs of his society when he discovers that he is not truly content In both cases the main character is in quiet rebellion against his government Technology is used in both novel evilly 1984s telescreens cannot be turned off as Brave New World has feelies advancement on talkies Feelies add tactile senses to a movie as well Science and human progress is not acknowledged in A Brave New World In 1984 They were homes of the four Ministries between which the entire apparatus of government was divided the Ministry of Truth which concerned itself with news entertainment education and the fine arts the Ministry of Peace which concerned itself with war the Ministry of Love which maintained law and order and the Ministry of Plenty which was responsible for economic affairs Their names in Newspeak Minitrue Minipax Miniluv and Miniplenty Orwell 8 In 1984 a first-person book partly narrated by the main characters internal dialogue the great party leader is Big Brother an imaginary character who is somewhat more magnificent than Ford Winston fears Big Brother and is much more aware of his situation than any of the characters in Brave New World who are constantly pacifist In Brave New World history is ignored completely whereas in 1984 it is literally rewritten in order to suit the present Brave New World is written in the third person This tense was used so the reader could be agreed an all-inclusive view of the behavior His characters are superficial and fanciful to better mirror the society in which the story takes place Like 1984 in
