The Producer The producer is the creator the person that comes up with the idea to start the whole movie off they are also responsible for finding everybody else to help make the movie and make it saleable Producers are always thinking about story lines so that they can make good movies this would be where the studio will support them financially and the public will pay to see Producers get there ideas just like a songwriter they dont think to much about them but let them pop into there head all they may also get the idea from a book Often they will take the idea from another movie that was successful and also using those same characters The producer must also keep the budget in mind and determine it by how much it will cost and then using that money wisely so that they dont go over movies range from about 10 million 45 million and sometimes more Movies can be very simple eg an older brother that used to steel cars but stopped so his little brother wouldnt follow his footsteps Then he finds himself stealing cars to keep his little brother alive because he couldnt steel a car properly and ends up saving his brother meanwhile catching up with all his old friends The Screenwriter The producer to look at his idea story and treat it to tell how it will be presented in the film hires a screenwriter This is called treatment This also includes the description of the characters The writer and producer work together by the writer knowing how to make it a good story and the producer knows what will sell at the box office If the producer knows a certain actor he will encourage the writer to make a part for him in the treatment this gives an attraction to the actor If the package is good enough has good people eg directors actors
