Helena loves Demetrius but he does not love her back Demetrius has no feelings towards Helena and this he has explained to her but she still insists Demetrius loves Hermia but she rightfully loves Lysander and Lysander loves her too Hermias father does not want her to marry Lysander he wants her to marry Demetrius This love commotion created chaos and problems There were a lot of obstacles blocking true love and the finding of love Shakespeares A Midsummer Nights dream play shows that although love can have many obstacles it can concur them all This is shown in Hermias and Lysanders relationship and Helenas love for Demetrius Hermia and Lysanders love concurred all of the obstacles that endangered their love One of the obstacles that created problems in their relationship was hermias father Egeus He had an undeniable hatred towards Lysander so he did not want Hermia to marry him Egeus wanted Hermia to marry Demetrius but she did not want to This angered Egeus so he asked Thesius the duke of Athens to give him the rightful will of killing Hermia because she does not obey Thesius gladly gave him the will but Hermia had to pick out of three options that he gave either prepare to die for disobedience to your fathers will or else to wed Demetrius as he would or on Dianas altar to protest for aye austerity and single life 1186-90 Hermia had to die marry Demetrius or live her life as a nun for the rest of her life She did not want any of those options she wanted to be with Lysander Hermia had to find a way to be with Lysander The will of her father was the obstacle of their love Lysander and Hermia had to find away to escape the law and so they did They went to the forest and they hid there for the night That night
