Revenge is a powerful feeling for it is able to make one completely enraged and focused on acquiring justice It can sometimes make one feel justified in committing a crime as happened with Romeo in Romeo and Juliet In Act 3 Scene 1 Tybalt and Mercutio fight because Romeo went to the Capulets party uninvited This enraged Tybalt making him want to fight Romeo to the death but before Tybalt encountered Romeo Mercutio stepped in and fought the battle for Romeo As he lay dying Mercutio said They have made worms meat of me 3 1 112 This infuriated Romeo making him vindictive to the point of hunting down Tybalt and fighting him to the death Romeo emerged victorious I think that Romeo is justified in the killing of Tybalt for two reasons the first is that this fight came about because of the quarrels of the families of Romeo and Juliet the second reason is that Romeo would have most likely been killed himself if he had not fought back and that he did not want to fight Tybalt The Montagues and the Capulets have not gotten along for several generations therefor when they see each other on the street they argue and make fun of each other We are introduced to the depth of the hatred between the two families when Tybalt says What drawn and talk of peace I hate the word as I hate hell all Montagues and thee 1 1 71-73 Later Tybalt prowling the streets looking to fight with Romeo says to him Romeo the love I bear thee can afford No better term than this thou art a villain 3 1 61-62 At this point Mercutio steps in and fights Tybalt instead of keeping his cool thereby losing his life This increases the tension between the two families and sets Romeo up for a deadly encounter with Tybalt And finally Tybalt calls
