Toogood or Toobad Toogood said she was horrified when she saw the videotaped incident herself I was thinking I look like a monster Toogood said crying I cant believe I would do that to my little four-year old girl Where do we draw the line for punishing our kids What is too far When does it become abuse All of these questions were brought up in the media following and incident in a department store parking lot Friday September thirteenth Madelyne Gorman Toogood was caught beating her four-year old daughter Martha in the parking lot of a department store The brutal beating was revealed on a surveillance camera videotape The incident was widely televised This brought up many different feelings and opinions questioning morals nationwide How should we define good and bad who decides what makes someone one or the other Because everyone has different opinions is there a specific definition or is it all gray area I think that the incident involving Toogood raised questions inquiring right and wrong with parenting Does the parent have the right to physically punish their children Or is that considered abuse Toogood claimed that she had lost her temper because she had a bad day On the tape it appeared that she was hitting her daughter in the back of the head pulling her hair and making punching motions toward her Toogoods attorney stated that Martha had misbehaved in the department store Was Madelyne simply punishing her daughter for misbehaving On September thirteenth Madelyne Toogood thought that she was being a good parent teaching her daughter the difference between right and wrong behavior Toogood thought that a beating was a relevant punishment for her daughters actions in the department store All people have different views of what is right and wrong When one person views something as right another will see it as wrong In the story of Madelyne Toogood she thought that
