Why should anyone be able to tell you that you have to suffer longer than you would like This is a question that pops up very often in the minds of people that are terminally ill AIDS is the number one killer in our society at the present time What is the point in making these patients suffer when the only cure for them is dying Euthanasia or Assisted Suicide is when a doctors patient is so terminally ill that the patient signs an agreement that states that the doctor is capable of giving them an lethal injection to end their suffering Surely the family of the sick will be greatly sorrowed but it is not them who are sick and suffering it is their loved one Half of the family members really do want the sick family member to die knowing that it is the only way to alleviate pain There is a man named Derek Humphry that held meetings for the terminally ill and looking for a way to cope with their illness Derek Humphry said that it started out that only elderly women attended his meetings Then when the epidemic of AIDS came about it brought a younger generation of terminally ill patients looking for a way out It seems to me that the only people that are against euthanasia are ones that have never experienced this horrible disease Who are these people to say that one person is not in enough pain to be able to say that it is their time to die For the mercy of AIDS patients in their final stages of their disease Euthanasia should be accepted in todays society The AIDS virus affects the immune system by weakening it When people have a weakened immune system they are prone to many diseases and infections like Canadidiasisi also called thrush which can cause lesions of the tongue mouth throat and intestinal and vaginal tracts that may cause
