In the poem Monologue for an Onion by Suji Kwock Kim the onion represent as the main topic of the poem Suji made an intelligent use of metaphorical languages to communicate a much personal message than what is expected from cooking ingredients such as an onion In this poem an onion expresses its thoughts and feelings while a person goes about cutting it up The metaphor is the action of peeling the onion by another person This person is the one whom onion is in a relationship The poem shows the final confrontation in an relationship which ends the destruction of the onionThe onion itself represents as a person who is being torn apart The first person point of view is the onion apologizing for making the peeler cry Most people will have tears in their eyes when peeling an onion because of the acid that contain it However the onion is making an apology to the peeler for causing the reaction even though you can just explain it The onion can relate on every aspects of life It can relate on your relationship to your love ones family friends and everyday lifeThe onion says I dont mean to make you cry I mean nothing but this has not kept you from peeling away my body layer by layer lines 1-3 It means that before someone cuts an onion he or she knows that the onion is going to make their eyes water and burn it really bad but they still continue to cut it It same applies in a bad relationship because one can know that their significant others has the ability to break their heart but still keep on trying to move forward with that person Every relationship has ups and downs that can lead your relationship to break up Mostly women
