My name is Faith Ward and I been hired by the Fisher Price company to design a toy that will stimulate Cognitive Development in young children Children each develop at their own pace and stages The Animal Fun toy will help the development of ones memory and ability to assimilate animal sounds and link it to the corresponding animal Animal Fun was influenced by Jean Piagets theory on Cognitive Development Toy Description Animal Fun is an electronic game of memory skill made for children ages 4-5 Animal Fun consist two different levels and 10 different animals buttons Dog Cat Cow Bird Pig Chicken Horse Sheep Monkey and an Elephant At level one Animal Fun produces an animal sound when the centre button is pressed The toddler must now look at the images of the animals and press the picture of the animal that the sound had produced As the toddler presses the correct image a voice will then tell the toddler the name of the animal and repeat the sound it made If the child was to select the wrong animal the voice will correct the toddlers by insuring them that the animal they have selected does not match and it will light the correct animal that matches the sound At level two your toddler gets to play a pattern game It will start out with pressing the centre button and a pattern consisting 2-5 different animals will play out making the sound of the animals Jean Piaget Theory of Cognitive Development Jean Piaget was a psychologist that studied human cognition how people think and understand He believed that all children develop the same that they go through the same experiences in life that helps them develop and learn Piaget theory of cognitive development suggests that logical thinking develops in four different stages from birth to adulthood Stage 1
