The historic battle waged by Athens and Sparta was more than just a regular battle fought in ignorance This war was waged to protect a culture a way of life It was a war fought to preserve every thing the two giants stood for Sparta had there own military life style where progress meant power power over everything and everyone These people were brain washed into believing every thing should be done for the state Sparta was only living for the moment Progress was based solely on conquering fellow civilizations Sparta perished all resources with only one thought in mind we must prevail above all others no matter what the cost Blind that is the word that comes to mind when trying to comprehend such people They caught muddled glimpses of their direction and all they could make out was a hazy mist saturated with illusions of power The Athenians werent so warlike They based their life around scientific and technological advances They wanted a nobler lifestyle where adversity was over come by science technology and politics This is the kind of life that flourishes No time is wasted fighting useless wars that only exhaust resources and brings death to the population Time is spent on advancing everything Life gets easier through the aid of newly engineered tools and machines and at the same time the rate of progress goes up A strong military is essential for a strong civilization but a life revolving around one is not Athens had begun to take the lead over its opposing state Sparta They had proved to be smarter than Spartans the evidence was in science technology and politics If this prosperity continued the Spartans would surely perish so instead of trying to compete with there rival Sparta decided to overrun them That is why I choose Athens over Sparta because I value advancement in all fields not striving towards
