General Purpose The purpose of this speech is to deter people from making a horrible preventable and possibly deadly decision at the end of their night out I hope to save a life and teach people how to drink more responsibly so that they are aware of smarter optionsAttention Step The scary reality is that a great night out can turn horribly wrong in the blink of an eye The even scarier reality is that someone elses stupidity can forever change our livesEstablish Need Our society has to realize that drinking and driving is wrong and can turn deadly simply by having one drink too many We have to choose to be more responsible and set better examples for the youth that look to us for the right answers We must lead by exampleEstablish Credibility As someone that has witnessed firsthand the deadly tolls that drinking and driving has caused on both the innocent and guilty parties involved I feel that it is my job to share some responsible choices and help reduce the possibility that you your family or your friends will have to deal with such a tragic yet preventable situation Central IdeaThesis Statement For some reason it seems that the world we live in cannot seem to have a good night out without throwing back a few drinks and then thinking nothing is wrong with jumping behind the wheel of a car We must change this world It is our duty to fix this problem and find a solution so that we can reach our desired resultsTransition Drinking and driving is killing us and aiding in us killing each otherDescription of the Problem NeedDrinking and driving is claiming the lives of people we all love and in more than one way It is a sad reality that the fact that you made it home safely is considered a success
