Angela's feedback:
"It is clear that you understand the main ideas in Twain’s essay, and you do a good job of tying personal examples to different parts of Twain’s argument. However, as is, your essay seems to move aimlessly from one subject to the next through the course of your body paragraphs. Revising your thesis statement so that it better represents your main message and supporting points would help the reader better understand the scope of your work. In terms of writing conventions, the title of an essay should be placed in quotation marks instead of being italicized. Run-on sentences and sentence fragments should be recast for clarity and to improve the flow of your writing. There are some word choice issues as seen with your use of “the blacks.” There are also some verb tense problems, and you have a tendency to insert commas where they’re not necessary (e.g., “feeling, without”). It is standard practice in academic writing to refer to an individual by last name only once that person has been introduced by full name."
