The Colonial period was a period that created the foundation of America today socially economically and politically America faced times of troubles and triumphs but thats what made it what it is today a place of life liberty and freedom The story of Christopher Columbus is an inspiring and important one that students should be aware of Students should be aware of Prologue from Relation of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca because it shows how far a mans faith in what he believes in can take him The character of the country by Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca is a tale of a tribe who migrates to a new place and makes peace with the people they meet Our foundation was built socially and economically off a European basis All three of these stories illustrate the American experience in a social political or economical wayChristopher Columbus is definitely an economical and a political one He is a very important figure of the Colonial Period Along with his discovery of the Americas he brought a European culture and economy Columbus originally came over in search for jewels and to expand the Catholic monarchy when this didnt work out for him he began to make discoveries He was already a successful man so failure for him was no option After his first voyage Columbus made more in hopes of discovering and exploring more places such as Puerto Rico The Virgin Islands Jamaica and more 132 The next story is one of a social standpoint and I feel that it is essential for students to know about it Prologue from Relation of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca is a story of how a man puts his faith and trust in something that he strongly believes in This story should be read by all students because it send out a message that tells us that when we put out trust in something sometimes it all works out for
