Gullivers Travels by Jonathan Swift Gullivers Travels by Jonathan Swift is mostly viewed in two ways The first of these two is as a fanciful adventure filled with exciting tales of a man named Lemuel Gulliver and the voyages he took Other people may see the book to be ridiculing the Europeans folly In this report Im going to highlight some of these adventures Some of the countries that Ill tell you about are Lilliput Brobdingnag Laputa Glubbdubdrib and the land of the Houyhnhnms First I would like to take you to the country of Lilliput In Lilliput Gulliver found himself captured by tiny men who later find that his size could be used to their advantage against neighboring enemies Also Gulliver easily did building or moving things that would take too long or was too big for the natives He quickly gained respect from the Emperor of the Lilliputians which later caused some of the leaders to become jealous and conduct an accusation against Gulliver for treason Given the choice of either losing his life or having his eyes cut out Gulliver flees to a neighboring island Here with the help of the king there and the people of the island he built a small boat and was able to escape from the islands Gulliver soon found himself facing yet another adventure After fleeing Lilliput Gulliver soon found himself in Brobdingnag a land filled with simple-minded giants ten times his size That made him feel that he was the Lilliputian compared to the giants Here a farmer found Gulliver and showed him off as a form of entertainment to his friends and others to make money Later the farmer sold Gulliver to a Queen He found it hard to get along with the Queens midget While staying in the castle Gulliver was attacked by rats and a cat and he was even kidnapped by a monkey
