We live in a society where money rules Everyone is materialistic The person with the biggest and best toys wins Of course spending money is a good thing it does keep our economy afloat I think it has gone to a point where all that matters is money Money rules We focus only on tangible material items Our leisure life is saved for weekends Beauty is considered better than brains and appearance means more than substance Doesnt this say alot about American people in general Shouldnt this be a wake up call that something should be done to change our mixed up values Americans are too shallow We focus only on things we can physically touch and see Our reflection and the reflection of others is how we judge eachother We all conform to the same life We are always in competition with each other It keeps us running quickly We dont want to be left behind We have to be the first person on the block to buy the new SUV We spend money to validate ourselves and boost our status We choose to judge people by their career choice college degrees and what they own We dont have the time to get to know a person for whats inside Were too busy keeping ourselves busy with insignificant things We leave little time to enjoy the Earth and nature We cant sit back and relax and just enjoy being alive Were always rushed always on the go We act as though life is one big race When will our society get its values straight None of us know the answer to that It may never happen In fact it could just get worse Its like were all living robots living the 9 to 5 job Almost like slaves to society Although any person can drop out at anytime Its up to you to create you own reality All we have to do is step
