The war in Afghanistan has become a tragedy The great debate is whether we should stay or go We should leave Afghanistan because the cost of war is hurting the US the likelihood of success is quite small anda US victory will not stop terrorism in Afghanistan or anywhere elseI am an Afghanistan veteran myself I believe very heavily that we should no longer fight this war that cannot be won I spent 12 months overseas never once did I see anything that was changing for the better or making progress in a positive direction Seeing no progress completely demoralizes troops It did not take long into my deployment that the soldiers started questioning why we were there Everyone could tell the people did not want us there and they damn sure did not want our help The only thing Afghans cared about were handouts and how much money and food we would give them Now I will not sit here and say that every last one of the Afghans hated us and wanted us gone this was not the case But the majority of every village we visited was not excited to see our trucks pull up One of the troubling concerns for the US during this war with Afghanistan is our economy It is no secret that our economy is being run into the ground One of the great contributors to that is the war on terror According to Linda Bilmes of wwwglobalresearchcom spending in Iraq and Afghanistan now come to more than 3 billion weekly making wars a major reason for the record-level budget deficits This quote hits the nail on the head These numbers when looked at are out of control It is not only the war alone that money gets spent on Think about the soldiers coming home from Afghanistan Now we have a surplus of veterans who need physical and mental treatment daily This comes directly from the taxpayer
