Bridget's feedback:
"You confront the two elements of your project in an assertive, energetic manner that facilitates reader interest and engagement. However, due to typos, missing text (e.g., page 1 prior to the Dow oscillations discussion), and mechanics errors, such as the verb tense shift in the opening, the reader struggles to keep up. More broadly, due to the missing text, it's a little hard to match up how well the opening discussion about the crash informs the latter half.
Assuming the missing text will be restored, the first major area demanding higher-order attention is the moment when you move from the post-WWII overview to Y2K. This is a big jump that, without signposting, is rather hard to follow, to the point where I wondered if some text had gone missing from that area as well. Take a look at the top of the second page -- some options to guide the reader include a transition sentence or paragraph, reorganization, or use of section headings.
Take note of your long quotation (middle of page 2); because it is unattributed, the reader has trouble understanding its function, as well as the function of the extended metaphor, adding to the murkiness of the overall presentation.
Finally, if you plan to update this discussion in 2022 (as I read this essay), I imagine a discussion about 2008 will be useful (or a statement letting the reader know the parameters of your survey)."
