When people think of boarding school they usually think of unruly children being sent off to learn some discipline But I will share my experience of spending my Junior and Senior year of high school in a Christian boarding school in the hills of Asheville North Carolina learning just how tough it is to take care of yourself and hold the responsibilities of an adult Boarding school taught me the value of family friends and doing well in schoolGrowing up being an only child for 10 years of my life grew to be difficult when I became an older sister I learned soon that I now had to share the attention of my parents with my new brother When I finally became a teenager my family life became difficult Between fighting with my parents and trying to be a normal teenager things became rough and when the time came I decided it was time to leave the nest of my parents At 16 years old I left my small town of Bishopville South Carolina to live in the high mountains of Asheville North Carolina At first being away from my family seemed enjoyable and calm but as the school year went on I learned that family is the most important thing in anyones life The annual tuition for school was 15000 and to help with paying it students were given jobs to help their family pay the high bill With working so much to help my family I was not able to visit home very often and I soon grew to be home sick Being away taught me that no matter how hard it was at home for me it was a place of comfort and loveBeing around friends 7 days a week every week for ten months can get to be tiresome And with being around people so much it teaches the value of friendship and patience I made a lot of friends at
