My father began working at the age of nine after his mother die of a simple appendicitis operation He never had the opportunity to go to school or to get an education He needed to earn money to eat and to help his brothers and sisters Since I can remember I can hear my dad telling me how important is for him that I go to school that I graduate that he does not want me to be like him My fathers words have motivated me in every single possible way and because of him I made a lot of achievements I have many experiences and I created myself hundreds of goals In my academic years I have achieved multiple things I joined the basketball team I played soccer I ran track I had perfect attendance multiple times and I was an honor student But my biggest achievement of all was learning English I came from Nicaragua at the age of ten years old my first language is Spanish when I came to the United States I did not know any English at all I remember starting fourth grade and being lost because I could not ask where my classroom was I ran into the restroom and began crying I felt like I was in another planet That year I began staying after school in tutoring with the ESL students but I hated that class because I felt like I was not learning anything I began to look up words and phrases on my own after a couple of months I was putting sentences together speaking some words and reading and understanding what I was saying I felt like I was accomplishing the biggest achievement in my life By the end of four grade I had asked my parents to enroll me in regular classes I took a test and I did great the next school year I was in regular English classes Learning English
