Bridget's feedback:
"Your voice is direct and assertive, establishing ethos right away. The mechanics are excellent, and the flow is impressive as well, ushering the reader from one sentence to the next. Overall, the writing itself makes a strong argument for your placement in an honors course. Well done!
My main recommendation is to insert alongside the existing argumentation a few specific, personal examples that can add "color" or "texture" and that can also function as evidence, the way a quotation from a book helps support a claim. Are there any details you can share with the reader about your novel-in-progress (genre, or even a one-sentence elevator pitch)? Perhaps you can name some assigned readings you've enjoyed in the past, influential teachers, favorite writers, or describe your summer classes. (I would avoid the rather hyperbolic "countless classes.") A teacher will be interested to find out what you can bring to their Honors class, and giving a few details can capture their attention and establish your experience and interest."
