It is often said that college is the time to find your personal identity and to start to form the life and career you want to live Over the course of these past four years at Morehouse College I often found myself running away from something that I may have been chosen to do which is to work with children and to make a difference in someones life Teach for America would give me the perfect opportunity to immediately make an impact in a childs life accomplish many goals both in and outside the classroom as well as being a successful corp memberThere are many ways to make a difference in a childs life and after parents a teacher can have the most influence on a child and how far they may go in life Joining Teach for America would give me the chance to make an immediate difference in community that needs it the most In addition to changing a childs life joining Teach for America could lead to a lifelong commitment of teaching and giving a child the best education possible As a corp member there is a great responsibility as an educator as well as a community leader As a corp member I would hope to make tangible and intangible accomplishments From within the classroom I would hope to accomplish change by raising test scores and childrens outlook on education Furthermore I would hope to show that college is possible for everyone and to be a positive role model for many students who may not have someone to look up to In the field of teaching there are many standards or a criterion that measures a success of a teacher I would determine my success by the students who may not like school but due to a new approach or outlook on education may change their belief and in turn have a positive take on education and school as a whole
