"You do a good job sticking to the topic of research and explaining in broad terms why it's important for people in academia to pursue such activities. However, your work would be stronger if you reworked your essay a bit to let the reader know what type of research you're interested in pursuing and why this topic or discipline is of particular interest to you. Revision is suggested to improve your language use and clarify the meaning of various sentences. For example, it is difficult to comprehend the meaning of the second part of your first sentence (beginning from "and one which"). You can make your writing less repetitive by using synonyms instead of words such as "gain" twice in a given sentence."
