"It's clear that you've done research on the University of Virginia, and it's notable that you focus on aspects of Virginia that you're interested in outside of the university. However, your essay would benefit from a thorough edit to address writing convention errors. The term "bleak" should not appear in quotation marks because you're not using it in a specialized way. Meanwhile, your comma use needs to be revisited because commas are often placed in places where they're unnecessary and distracting. Book titles should be italicized, and more work should be done to naturalize your language use. For example, "economic" is more appropriate as an adjective than "economical" for your purposes. The format of your work needs some minor work as well; all paragraphs should be aligned flush left."
