Different people might react in different ways to a phrase like primitive culture Of course there is no doubt that the majority of people would be sorely offended Others however might feel that that such a phrase is merely rude or politically incorrect That is they may feel that the word primitive describes a true quality of some cultures but that it just isnt very polite to call someone elses culture primitive Still others might not think anything of such a phrase because they themselves believe some cultures to be primitive However I believe that such a mode of thinking is built upon dangerous fallacious premises and that if such thinking is left unchallenged it cannot but reap toxic fruit for the global human communityNevertheless I must first concede that it may be difficult to call this issue a controversial issue This is probably due largely to the fact that to most the concept of a primitive culture appears to be so manifestly emblematic of and foundational to a past historical racism that they do not even feel the need to fight against its usage in much the same way that nowadays few people feel the need to take a stand against the notion that the earth is flat To others the usage of phrases like primitive culture is merely a breach of etiquette and thus not an issue worthy of serious contention For these reasons if ever a controversy about calling cultures primitive existed it has managed to slip under the radar screen of most peopleI however feel the need to controvert this point for two reasons one personal and the other general My personal reason is that as a multiracial I have inherited the racism-saturated histories of multiple ethnic groups For example the Japanese originally referred to Caucasians as nanbanjin which could be translated barbarians from the south On the other hand the Western imperialism which brought Caucasians into the Far East in
