In an autobiographical novel Hawk 2006 William Wallis describes a kindhearted child Will Falke who faces difficult struggles in his childhood This seven-year-old child grew up in the 1950s in Arkansas Will faces different phenomena living on a farm helping with chores under the harsh command of his father Ray who was the cause of Wills emotional pain His fathers violence not only added pain physically but also emotionally Having suffered and survived through his unusual childhood of pains and disappointments he was cursed with a accident in the woods he become crossed-eyed when he was blinded his right eye forever He went through a lot as a kid Edvin Wills life is not simple at school his peers cruelly bully him for being different which leaves him with self-doubt He tolerates pain and punishment from his father Will is not only hurt by the anger of his father but doesnt seem to understand it at such a young age as he is beaten unconscious Hawk 41 Will stays strong in spite of all the abuse mocking and humiliations but aside from all the troubles are blessings Despite Wills difficult childhood he was able to survive with the support of Ruth his mother Alma and TyreeChildren remain whole with the influence from strong significant person such as a mother A mother means the world to a child a mother protects nourishes and grants her child with love and care The love between the mother and child is something that can never be explained only felt it is bundle of dedication sacrifice and pain From an early age Will knew his parents were two different types of people There were those who brought pain to others like his father and there were people to whom pain seemed attracted like his mother and him Hawk 4 Regardless her shielding abilities were limited against her spouses dominance his mother was a support of healing love and nurture Ruth
