Good thesis statements always have debatable topics. Simply put, it needs to be a topic that someone can disagree with.

Not sure if your topic is debatable? Try rewriting it from the alternate viewpoint.

Example: Gun control should be adopted.
Alternatively: Gun control goes against citizen’s rights.

If someone could argue the opposite of your stance, you have a debatable topic!
