Life for me aint been no crystal stair Its had tacks in it and splinters and boards torn up and places with no carpet on the floor bare But all the time Ise been a-climbin on and reachin landins and turnin corners and sometimes goin in the dark where there aint been no light Ise still climbin Langston Hughes Mother to Son Year after year school to school state to state house to house struggle after struggle and somehow I managed to survive Never really had a legit reason for moving but it seemed to be my moms yearly tradition Every year around January my mom would come home and say How would you guys feel about moving to I being the difficult one would always ask why Though she never answered me I always asked I never liked moving because always being the new kid was time consuming I felt as if I was always trying to introduce myself so it came a point where I just became a lonerChanging schools seemed to be the hardest thing ever especially because I was very athletic Being the new kid at school was a lot easier than being the new girl on the basketball team Always fight for a spot trying to prove to the coaches I could play I remember eighth grade year my second day at Moore Middle School the coach wanted me to try out for varsity I was so excited so I ran to the locker room to get dressed out As I was changing I realized I wore a strapless bra The coach peaked in the locker room and said You ready I slipped on my shirt and ran out the locker room following the coach We entered the gym and she said Go on down there theyre just doing warm ups The hardest thing ever is trying to do lay ups when your bra is falling down your shirt
